The project explores how local interconnected energy communities can strengthen Tjörn’s preparedness for energy crises, while also promoting social cohesion, creativity, tourism, and energy supply in the present.
The feasibility study examines the possibility of establishing an energy community focused on storage and renewable energy sources as an energy security hub in and around the Svanvik area on Tjörn. In addition, the concept “Lanterns Across Tjörn” is being developed – dispersed solar-powered sculptures that function simultaneously as artworks, local energy hubs, and energy communities. Each sculpture is designed as a meeting place, built through social collaboration, and contributes to energy availability even in crisis situations.
By combining technical solutions with social organization and culture, the project identifies new ways to make the local community more resilient and engaged in energy issues. The result will be a model for how Tjörn can develop inclusive energy communities for a sustainable and secure local society.
