The purpose of the project is to, in collaboration with the BeBo network, apply a methodology developed in previous pre-projects for internal additional insulation of existing external walls.
From a building physics point of view, external additional insulation is preferable. From an architectural and antiquarian point of view, one often wishes to preserve the original character. Additional internal insulation is often the only remaining option to improve thermal properties.
Many companies do not dare to propose additional internal insulation due to negative experiences of moisture damage. A methodology that ensures moisture safety for the option with additional internal insulation has been developed. This will now be applied in real objects. In addition, new construction solutions and new types of products for additional internal insulation can be developed. A successful outcome of the project means a very large energy savings potential nationally
A reference group has been established for the project, consisting of representatives from the following organisations:
- BeBo (the Swedish Energy Agency’s network for energy-efficient multi-residential buildings)
- Swedish Energy Agency
- Swedish National Heritage Board
- Architect
